La Trainera is a great Fish & Seafood restaurant right in the middle of the exclusive Salamanca area of Madrid. This is no fancy affair, the decor is basic with a nautical theme and wooden tables and chairs. The restaurant has a huge display fridge where you can choose the freshest fish & seafood for your meal. It is the food that is the star act here, with a vast choice of fresh seafood from clams, mussels & oysters to barnacles, crab and king prawns and fresh fish including sea bream, sea bass, hake, sole & turbot among others. Dishes are simple and understated allowing the freshness of the fish & seafood to speak for itself. The best ingredients available are served at La Trainera, probably due to the fact that the owner has a stall in Mercamadrid, the capital’s most important produce market. This is a real haven for fans of fish & shellfish and proves that you don’t even have to be by the sea to eat some of the best the market has to offer.
