Escondida is a cool, funky restaurant and lounge bar situated in the pretty fishing town of Alcala in the west of Tenerife. Just a short drive away from resorts such as Los Gigantes or Playa de la Arena, this chilled out venue holds a priviledged position on the seafront and the views from the wide windows are stunning. Cleverly split into two sections, the lounge area is full of colourful sofas and intimate corners, beautifully lit by candles at night and ideal for chilling out with friends over a cocktail or two. The restaurant is a more formal setting and offers a varied Mediterranean style menu including oven roasted pepper and cheese salad, langoustines and cherne kebabs and entrecote steak with caramelized onions. Don’t forget to look out for the daily specials blackboard which are always excellent and well worth trying. Unique to the area, Escondida is a testament to the restaurant scene of Tenerife and is well worth checking out.
