The Celler Ca’n Amer restaurant in Inca in the north of Mallorca not only houses one of the oldest wine cellars on the island, but offers some excellent traditional Mallorcan cuisine all prepared with only the best products. Centrally located within the town of Inca, alongside the market square, the Celler C’an Amer was converted into a wine cellar in 1700 and was producing wine only right up until 1950. It was opened as a restaurant in 1963 and chef and owner Antonia Cantallops is considered as one of the island’s best traditional cooks where old recipes are reinvented to produce and a more modern cuisine. Among the more popular dishes are the suckling pig, shoulder of lamb stuffed with aubergine and spicy sausage, seafood frito and the confit of cod with olive oil. There is a really reasonably priced lunch menu at 18 Euros for 4 courses excluding drinks. The wine list is of course excellent with many local varieties on offer as well as the usual Spanish classics. If you want to try some real local food at its best come to the Celler Ca’n Amer.
