The Alba Granados Restaurant, based right in the heart of Barcelona, serves creative Spanish cuisine and is headed by the young, critically acclaimed chef Carlota Claver. The restaurant is on two levels; the upper floor is divided into private dining rooms catering for anything from an intimate 5 persons up to a large party of 90 and the lower floor is the main restaurant. The décor is simple yet elegant, with earthy tones, wooden flooring and white linens. The Alba Granados is famed for serving some of the best quality meat in Barcelona, which is cooked on a traditional stone grill to produce a distinctive flavour. Try the fillet of ox served with white truffle butter and roasted peppers or the rack of lamb with a celery cream. The fish is also of the highest quality including dishes such as baked sea bass served with Aragon olives and lemon. Delicious desserts include the almond soufflé with sultana sauce and muscatel ice cream. The restaurant also has an elaborate wine list including a large variety of classic and original fine wines and cavas. Alba Granados was one of several restaurants we dined at - and I must say that I enjoyed this one most of all. The quality of the beef was amazing - I live in New York which has great steakhouses - but I was extremely impressed with the food. I have recommended this restaurant to family members going to Barcelona in November 08. Would absolutely dine here again when in town.
