Adolfo is one of Toledo’s finest restaurants, featuring a splendid menu of top class Spanish cuisine from the region. Toledo is one of Spain’s most emblematic cities and the Adolfo restaurant is housed in a wonderful historical 14th century building just a stone’s throw away from the beautiful Toledo cathedral. The restaurant actually opened its doors in 1979, and the same family still runs it to this day. The kitchen has been thoroughly modernised, however the dining room still maintains all of the history and tradition that one would expect from such an old building with massive wooden beams supporting the ceiling and faded frescoes on the walls dating back many years. There are 4 dining areas to Adolfo and one of the rooms features a 14th century New Mud jar style art that was once concealed and is now registered as one of the finest preserved pieces of art in the city. The wine cellar houses over 44,000 bottles of wine and is a true dream for any wine connoisseur. As for the menu, it is full of exquisite traditional dishes form this region of Spain; partridge with white beans and venison are the stars of the show or try the red peppers stuffed with shellfish. The house dessert is marzipan, prepared in a wood fired oven and as light as a feather. Adolfo is not only an amazing Spanish gastronomical experience, it is a restaurant that is steeped in history and art and is a true pleasure to visit.
